How we raise our Anatolians

Traditional livestock guardians are often raised in complete isolation in a barn, with livestock. But a puppy isolated from humans during its critical window never builds the pathways to process novel human activity, and when that dog is later asked to guard a family or meet visitors on a working homestead, its nervous system stays chronically dysregulated.

Our Anatolians are integrated safely alongside the livestock on our homestead and within the rhythms of our household. That gives them the clarity to tell a true threat from normal family life, creating a fiercely capable protector who can also peacefully regulate.

A note from Kristin

Matching each dog with the right home is the whole point.

Thank you for your interest in our started Anatolian Shepherd puppies. Matching each dog with the ideal home is the top priority of our program, so I would love to hear about your hopes and goals for a puppy, and a little about your property.

These puppies have received an exceptional foundation and are ready to begin their next chapter. They are placed after temperament testing and paired with the best matched family. Placement includes comprehensive health and temperament guarantees.

A livestock guardian dog can be an extraordinary protector for both flocks and families, but success is not guaranteed by breed alone. As a professional trainer, I have spent a great deal of time working through remedial behavioral issues, challenges that are costly in both time and resources. There are certainly less expensive puppies available, but a lower upfront cost often comes without careful attention to genetics and temperament. We see the heartbreaking results in shelters and rescues, which are overwhelmed with livestock guardian dogs that never got the foundation to peacefully regulate.

Because these are started dogs with professional training, the hard work of early development has already been done, to give them the best possible start. Investing upfront in a dog whose physical and mental wellness has been the primary focus is a far safer route for your property, your livestock, and your family. A well-prepared dog is one less liability and a true asset instead. Above all, as they should be, a dog from us is family.

Please reach out with any questions, or to schedule a video call to meet them.

Take care,
Kristin
